Seafoam tourmaline and aquamarine

Star Tourmaline

Trillions brooch

I am thrilled to present you with my first collection. As you may already know, if you are following me on social media, I named the collection Circe – after the Greek enchantress. Yes, I have a thing about mythology as well as coloured gemstones.

Let’s talk about Circe. She is an inspiring, mythological character and the enchantress who poisoned Ulysses and his companions and transformed them into pigs. I love how this figure conjures up feelings of freedom and magic. She might be a little bit scary, but freedom itself can be a little scary, can’t it?

I have probably looked at too many representations of Circe because now I feel like she is forever linked to a petrol blue colour and, in art history, this is the colour of poison.  Seafoam tourmalines, paired with aquamarine, are my perfect Circe colour combination, in my mind. I love the contrast between these two colours — dark and seductive tourmaline, and light and charming aquamarine.

Trillion gemstones are an unusual shape, and they are one of a kind. It’s unlikely that any gem dealer will propose something like this to me. It’s the kind of things that makes me want to cut gemstones for you. I would like to be able to propose these interesting and unusual beauties.

For this collection I used a mix of both yellow and white gold to create an interesting tension between the colours. White gold is perfect for offsetting the beauty of aquamarine.

Hexagon is another unusual shape. I love the starry effect that a hexagon creates, and I like the patterns that can be created from hexagons. I had a lot of fun designing these four items and, I can tell you, the two rings are stunning. The stones are pink tourmaline of different hues which make the jewels look more interesting and pleasing to the eye. Plus, tourmalines exhibit various hues, so it’s great to showcase them.

Which one is your favorite and why?
